My wife and I have been married for 23 years and have homeschooled our 4 children for most of that time. We have two still at home.
I began framing houses in Colorado in the mid 60's as a teenager, working for my friend's dad who was a contractor at the time. After several years of off and on work I decided to go to a drafting school and learn to draw house plans instead of whacking my thumb with a framing hammer on those cold winter mornings. My first job out of school was at an architect's office revising house plans. Working inside in bad weather appealed to me, and so some years later I decided to attend college and learn engineering. This education provided additional opportunities in the job market and after several years of working in various engineers and architects offices I landed a job with a major tire retailer in the northwest designing their new tire stores and warehouses. The experience was quite valuable and provided a wide range of design work from site development to the finished store.
After 11 years I transferred to the IT department of that company and studied project management, eventually earning a PMP from PMI ( Project Management Institute)in Pennsylvania.
My family and I now live in Idaho and since attending Rhea's Days in Atlanta last August we have been working on building our own internet businesses. Our oldest son is involved with helping us get our websites developed and deployed and the younger ones will be learning how to be creative and share their interests online with others as well as helping us with video production tasks.
I am looking forward to sharing whatever knowledge and experience I may have to help others who are starting out in establishing their own businesses.
